Wake and unlock the phone, then hold your TapTag still at the NFC reader for a few seconds. A quick swipe can miss it. On iPhone, try the top edge; on Android, try the back and check your model’s reader position.

On Android, make sure NFC is switched on in Settings. Remove thick cases, metal accessories and other cards or tags, then try again. If you’re sharing a link, finish or close the writer first and tap any link notification that appears.

If the tag hasn’t been programmed, write your link first. If a notification appears but the page won’t load, check the saved URL and the phone’s internet connection.

Try with your case on first. Thick cases, metal plates and attached card wallets can interfere with NFC. If the phone does not detect the TapTag, remove the case and accessories, then hold the tag directly against the reader area.

Open the writer directly in Chrome on an NFC-enabled Android phone, keep the screen unlocked and switch NFC on in Settings. An in-app browser or a desktop browser won’t work.

Enter the complete link, including https://. Tap “Write link to TapTag”, allow NFC access when Chrome asks, and keep the tag against the back of your phone until you see confirmation. If permission was denied, check this site’s NFC permission in Chrome and try again.

Yes. TapTags support up to 10,000 rewrites. Follow the same setup steps with your new link to replace the old one, then test it. You don’t need a new TapTag or a subscription.

The Android writer does not add a password or lock your tag. A writable, unprotected NFC tag can be rewritten by someone with a compatible writer and physical access to it. Simply tapping to read a link does not change it.

Your sharing link is intended to be read by other people, so use a public profile or page. Avoid making the tag permanently read-only if you want to change its link later. Contact us if you need help checking a tag’s protection.

Your personal link will only open after you’ve written it to the TapTag. If the tag is blank, there is no link to open; if it already contains a link, the phone reads that existing destination. Write your chosen link and test it before sharing.

They don’t need the TapTags app on a phone that supports reading NFC links. Have them wake and unlock their phone, hold it near the tag and tap the notification if prompted. Phone support varies; they’ll also need internet access to load the linked page.

Write the link to a page that brings your profiles together, such as your own website or a Linktree page. Your TapTag opens that page, and the person you’re sharing with can choose where to go next.
